During a December 2011 presentation for the Lionsgate Hospital Foundation CREST.BD team lead, Dr. Erin Michalak, discussed the team’s ‘community-based participatory’ approach to research and described highlights on two studies undertaken by the team focusing on recovery in people with BD.

New study: Metacognition and Bipolar Disorder

Team members Dr. Ivan Torres (Principle Investigator), Dr. Erin Michalak (Co-Investigator), and Dr. Lakshmi Yatham (Co-Investigator) recently obtained $210,000 in CIHR funding to support a 3-year study entitled: “Metacognition in Bipolar Disorder and Functional Outcome and Quality of Life (QOL).” The study will increase understanding of specific cognitive processes that best predict functional outcomes and quality of life in BD.
