We’ve launched into ORBIT!

You may have heard about the ORBIT Research Program that CREST.BD and a team of international researchers has been developing over the last 18 months. We are pleased to announce that the program has launched and are now inviting people who experience bipolar disorder to participate!

The ORBIT Research Program is an international study that has been funded by the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and led by Professor Greg Murray from Swinburne University in Melbourne, Australia. The research is comparing two online, self-guided interventions that have been designed to improve quality of life in people who live with bipolar disorder who have experienced 10 or more mood episodes. The interventions have been developed by an international team of researchers, clinicians and people with lived experience of bipolar disorder including the CREST.BD Community Advisory Group and include videos of people with lived experience and healthcare providers, exercises, tools, forums and an online coach.

Watch the video below to see what it is all about:

The trial, which will recruit 300 participants who experience bipolar disorder from around the world has just opened recruitment and over 30 people from both Australia and overseas have already signed up to participate. Participants in the ORBIT Research Program receive access to one of the 5-week online programs with ongoing access to the materials for 6 months and take part in a number of paid research assessments. People between the ages of 18-65 who have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and have experienced 10 or more mood episodes are invited to participate in the project and can find more information about the research and sign up at www.orbitonline.org.

  1. My adult daughter is bipolar, diagnosed in 2006. I was researching evidence-based programs for self-management and found ORBIT mentioned. My question is: does the program have a component for us beleaguered caregivers??
