Canada Research Chair (Tier 2), Health, Ethics & Diversity
Associate Professor, School of Nursing, University of British Columbia Okanagan
Dr. Pesut is one of a small group of nurses across Canada to receive a Canada Research Chair, which allows her to focus on research in the field of health, ethics and diversity. Her research is informed by real clinical challenges, and focuses on exploring the role that spirituality and religion play in health and on the integration of diverse spiritual values and beliefs into healthcare; for example, the negotiation of religious and spirituality between patients and care providers, and what societal beliefs about religion and spirituality mean for healthcare practice. Dr. Pesut brings expertise in qualitative research, rural and remote healthcare delivery, and understanding of the lived experience of spirituality, to her work in leading positive advances in patient care.
