Improving Care and Wellness in Bipolar Disorder: A Collaborative Knowledge Translation Network
The CREST.BD team is the recipient of a major funding award from the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR) in the organization’s 2010 ‘Network Catalyst – Knowledge Translation’ competition. CREST.BD’s application was ranked first in the entire competition and was awarded 3 years of funding to support the growth of the provincially-focused team (British Columbia) into a Canada-wide Network.
Although CREST.BD has produced a rich palate of knowledge about the psychosocial facets of BD, we have produced particularly strong findings in four key areas:
- self-management strategies for BD
- psychosocial treatments for BD
- QoL
- stigma
During the term of this project, we will develop innovative ways of sharing information about these research findings with both people with BD and their health care providers alike. CREST.BD members Erin Michalak, Greg Murray, Sagar Parikh, Jamie Livingston, Victoria Maxwell, Elliot Goldner, Mark Lau, Vytas Velyvis and various partners including the Canadian Network for Mood and Anxiety Treatment, the Mood Disorders Association of Ontario, Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute and Coast Mental Health will be helping make sure the project hits the ground running and is successful. However, we’ll be counting on your knowledge, expertise and guidance too.
