Jehannine Austin, PhD
Dr. Jehannine Austin is an Assistant Professor within the UBC Department of Psychiatry. She is a board certified genetic counselor with a PhD in Neuropsychiatric Genetics. Her research focuses on major psychiatric illnesses including BD – she is broadly intereested in the clinical implications of psychiatric genetics. Specifically, she has ongoing research into genetic and environmental contributors to postpartum episodes of mental illness, the impact of psychiatric genetics on mental illness stigma, and the outcome of providing genetic counseling to individuals with mental illness and their family members.
Dr. Austin has salary awards from the Michael Smith Foundation and CIHR, and her research program is supported by CIHR, the Vancouver Foundation, and the Women’s Health Research Institute.
