Don is the Substance Use Recovery Worker for Island Health’s Mental Health and Substance Use Intensive Case Management Team in Port Hardy on northern Vancouver Island, BC. Don is active in the BC mental health community and holds many volunteer positions including sitting on the board of the BC Schizophrenia Society, Victoria Branch and is a member of the BC Schizophrenia Society’s Provincial Public Policy Committee. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in his late teens, and has been in addiction recovery since 2006. In 2013, Don changed his career path to work in supporting those who live with mental health conditions, which led him to his current career with Island Health.

What I do when I'm not working

I am an avid vinyl record collector and a self-described ‘coffee snob’, and I can be found reading at Guido’s coffee shop every morning in beautiful Port Hardy.
