A Memoir by Dr. Stephen Hinshaw

We cannot wait to read CREST. BD network member Dr. Stephen Hinshaw’s memoir, “Another Kind of Madness”. It’s been described as a beautifully written and profound story calling for “an end to the dark shaming of mental illness”.

“Families are riddled with untold secrets. But Stephen Hinshaw never imagined that a profound secret was kept under lock and key for 18 years within his family”  – Barnes & Noble

Dr. Hinshaw is an eminent mental health researcher and Professor of Psychology at UC Berkeley. He writes to us that “[‘Another Kind of Madness’ is] a deep dive into my family’s enforced silence about my father’s lifelong, misdiagnosed, and heavily stigmatized mental illness.  It’s more intense, and I hope readable, than anything I’ve written before–interwoven with commentary on what stigma is and why we need to move the dial on reducing it.”

“Another Kind of Madness” will be released this summer, but we have the opportunity to pre-order it here
